Kindergarten students doing a scavenger hunt

To celebrate the spring season, we started a "Spring Into Reading!" program at Bertha Godfrey. Between April 6th and April 23rd, students will bring home a flower reading log slip. As they read a book, they can write the title of the book on a petal of the flower. These books can also be books that were read together with someone. When they return their reading slip, they will get a flower sticker to place on their classroom reading chart. There are also a variety of reading and spring activities that the students have here at school, too.

Our kickoff activity was a spring scavenger hunt. The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was a perfect day to spend some extra time outside looking for many different signs of spring. The finale activity will include a field trip to Wild Haven for a nature hike with our friend Billie Wille from the Nature Center. We are also enjoying some dirt cups for snack one day as well as making a flower out of different foods, and eating "bugs" another day!

So keep encouraging your children to read and see what fun things you can learn!
