We had such a great time celebrating "2's Day!" last month! We had to celebrate 2 days late because of the weather but the students had a blast with their tutus, ties, tie dye, tennis shoes, and tiaras! Check out Facebook for more pictures!

It is starting to warm-up and we will spring ahead with our clocks this weekend. We are not requiring students to wear boots unless they go off of the blacktop, and snow pants are no longer required as long as we don’t get any more snow. As we move through spring, mornings are usually very chilly, even on the warm days. Please have your students bring jackets and/or sweatshirts, which can be added or taken off depending on the weather. We do not have enough “extras” in the office to supply all the children. We are looking for ice cream buckets here at Bertha Godfrey! We use them for a variety of purposes around the building and running low. If you have some that you are ready to part with, you can send them with your student to school or drop them off at the office. Thank you!

This month, our school wide theme is friendship skills. In our morning announcements, we’ll be reminding students to invite others to play, play in fair ways, take responsibility for mistakes by making amends, and how to handle name-calling assertively. These skills help students make and keep friends. Yours in Education, Mr. Sudol

Last Thursday (February 3rd) we celebrated our 100th DAY OF SCHOOL!! It was a day full of fun and so many things 100! 100 exercises, counting to 100, 100 steps, 100 pieces of snack, artwork made out of 100, and many more things! The students were also invited to dress up as if they were 100 years old. One lucky Kindergarten even showed up with a matching shirt as many of the teachers! Be sure to check out Facebook for more pictures of our festivities!

This month, our school wide theme is problem solving. In our morning announcements we’ll be reminding students to use the Second Step Problem-Solving Steps: • S: Say the problem • T: Think of solutions • E: Explore consequences • P: Pick the best solution As you can see, the first letter of each step spells the word ”step.” Remembering “step” helps students solve problems with each other in safe and respectful ways. Second Step lessons specifically teach students to use each step and reinforce the message that solutions need to be safe and respectful. We hope the steps will be helpful for you and your child when there are problems at home. Please tell your child’s teacher if you would like more suggestions about how to use the Problem-Solving Steps at home. Yours in Education, Mr. Sudol
