Last week Friday was School Lunch Hero Day! The ACSD would like to thank all of our food service staff for the outstanding job they do each and every day to provide our students with the nourishment they need to be healthy and successful! You are truly heroes to our kids!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week and each day we’d like to highlight a different building of teachers. Today we’d like to thank the teachers at Bertha Godfrey for working hard to get our students started on the right path! Thank you!

Every Tuesday in Kindergarten has become "Try Something New Tuesday" where different specials teachers come in and do different things with the students. Mrs. Curry has been focusing on Science and has been doing some fun experiments! During their weather unit they made Shaving Cream Rain Clouds and Blizzards in a Jar. Then around Earth Day each class made Earth Day Seed Bombs and 3 groups have been able to get them planted! Check out Facebook for a ton more pictures of all the fun!!

Happy Birthday to our April birthdays!
We also got to celebrate our lunchroom helper, Amy, and her April birthday as well!

National Administrative Professionals Day is today, Wednesday, April 24. It is celebrated annually on the last Wednesday of the last full week of April. This day recognizes and appreciates the work of administrative professionals such as receptionists, secretaries, and administrative assistants. Thank you for your work and the positive impact you have on the students at ACSD!

Each year School Bus Driver Appreciation Day falls on the fourth Tuesday in April, which is April 23 in 2024. Today, we are recognizing all school bus drivers for taking care of our precious cargo during the school year. Whether they are transporting our kids to school, home, activities, or to sporting events, school bus drivers deserve recognition for the job they do. Thank you for your service to the students at ACSD!

In just 2 short weeks on May 3rd, Algona High School will be hosting the State Large Group Music Festival. Bands and Choirs from 18 schools will be coming to Algona to participate. We need a lot of volunteers to make this night run smoothly. Please thoughtfully look over the volunteer positions on our https://signup.com/go/RfncpEP list and sign up for a shift or two or even three. Contact Mr. HU or Liebl with any questions.

This informational video from Mr. Sudol is offered to those who have students coming into either Preschool or Kindergarten for the fall of 2024.

I am about a month late posting but we had THE BEST time celebrating our Rockin' Readers! We had a dance party, root beer floats, ice cream sundaes, popcorn, tattoos, coloring, an autograph zone, and SO MUCH FUN! This all came together with the hard work of a few individuals, the help of all teachers and associates, AHS Prom committee for loaning us past decorations, State 5 Theater for the yummy popcorn, Sanchez Grocery of Corwith for the ice cream machine, and HyVee for some delicious snacks! We also need to thank the parents and families of all of our students for reading to them and encouraging them to read. It truly is a group effort! And last but definitely not least, we need to give a special shout-out to Mrs. Wiita's class on winning the Kindergarten reading slip challenge! They received VIP passes and exclusive early access to our dance party! Be sure to check out Facebook for more pictures!
