Tomorrow is the last day of school! Elementaries are dismissed at 11:15 and the MS/HS are dismissed at 11:30. No lunch will be served tomorrow. Have a great summer!

Preschool Buddies has been a great part of the kids' growth at ACSD over the years, both for the preschoolers and in this case, the 4th graders! Last week they had their last visit for the year and celebrated with ice cream sandwiches!

Tonight's MS girls NCC track meet at Clarion has been postponed.

Algona Families --

Around Noon today, we received a call that Garrigan had received a possible threat to school safety. After speaking with our law enforcement, we have decided to place our school buildings on shelter-in-place while our authorities work with the FBI to assess the credibility of the threat. At the same time, our authorities decided to deploy a police presence at all of our school buildings and the Bishop Garrigan buildings. Later in the afternoon, after multiple communications with our local police department, it was determined that it was safe to dismiss students as usual and lift the shelter-in-place.

Thank you all for your patience in working through this situation. We work directly with our authorities in these situations to keep our buildings, students, and staff safe. We also work with the same people to communicate effectively with our families and communities. I am grateful for our relationship and how well they help us through these types of events.

Today, we had to ask our parents to stay away and NOT come to our school buildings. I know that can create a lot of anxiety and nerves, but it allows everyone to safely do their jobs in these critical moments. All of you were great, thank you so much for helping us out! We will always communicate with you as quickly as we can, and with as much information as possible.

The shelter in place has been lifted and the Algona CSD will dismiss as normal and at normal times.

On Wednesday, May 13, a phone call was received regarding an outside threat to Bishop Garrigan schools. All Algona schools are currently locked down and will continue to shelter in place. Law enforcement is on site at all schools, and students are safe. The incident is still under investigation by law enforcement agencies. At this point, there’s no reason to believe that the broader community is at risk.

All five school buildings remain in a shelter in place, and everyone is safe. There is a law enforcement presence at all five buildings. Please do NOT go to the school buildings at this time until the shelter-in-place has been lifted.

The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 20th! Elementaries will dismiss at 11:15 with AMS & AHS dismissing at 11:30. Lunch will not be served that day.

It's the last week of school for the Class of 2026! Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 17th in the AHS Gym at 2:00 PM. It will also be live streamed on the AHS Broadcasting YouTube channel.

A friendly reminder that our AMS concert performance times are staggered tonight. The 5th grade band and 5th & 6th grade choirs will start at 6:00 PM. The 7/8th grade band and choir will begin at 7:30 PM. Both performances will be in the Wilcox PAC.

Algona is hosting the IHSMA Large Group Festival this evening! Area bands & choirs will be performing in the Wilcox PAC and AHS gym, respectively. You can still help too!
