The Algona Boys Wrestling team is headed to the State Dual tournament for the 3rd year in a row! State will be held at Xtream Arena in Coralville on Saturday, February 7th.

The Algona Girls Wrestling team has 4 wrestlers in the Semifinals and 1 more alive in the Consolation bracket after Day #1 of the Girls State Wrestling tournament in Coralville. Mara Davis, Ruby Roof, Regan Jensen, and Regan Haynes all went 2-0 Thursday and will wrestle in the Semifinals Friday afternoon. Sienna Fehr went 2-1 on the day, and will be a state medalist. Laura Stohr went 1-2 and was eliminated from the tournament. Algona currently is 5th in the team standings with 52 points. The Bulldogs will return to the mat Friday at 1pm inside the Xtream Arena in Coralville.
Live coverage will be available on 98.5 FM/1600 AM of all matches.

Congratulations to the AHS Jazz Choir, Scarlet Midnight, for earning a Division I (Superior) rating at the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival at Clear Lake on Saturday! Of the 14 choirs that performed that day, only 5 received a Division I rating.

The AMS Science Fair is coming up on Monday, February 9th! Student projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges in the afternoon and public viewing will take place from 4:00-5:30 PM with awards following. This year the event will be held in the Middle School Gym. Family and community members are encouraged to attend the public viewing!

Due to the forecast and dangerous wind chill temperatures for tomorrow morning, we are going to cancel classes for Friday, January 23rd. There are also several changes to our events, which I have listed below. A message will go out to the public and our families shortly.

Tonight -

High School Wrestling is on as planned at IFA
7th and 8th grade Basketball vs Webster City is on as planned
9-10 boys basketball vs Spirit Lake will start at 5 pm in the HS GYM
Tonight's High School boys' and girls' basketball games will be varsity-only at PAC. Varsity girls will begin at 5 pm.

Tomorrow -

No Middle School events
JV Wrestling to Humboldt is on as planned
High School basketball vs IFA will be varsity only. Girls' varsity starting at 5 pm.

Saturday -

NCC Boys wrestling at Humboldt is on as planned
HS girls wrestling at Mason City is delayed 1 hour - 11 am start.
HS Large Group Speech at MNW is on as planned.
