Via "KLGA/KLGZ Radio" Facebook page- The Algona Girls Wrestling team has 4 wrestlers in the Semifinals and 1 more alive in the Consolation bracket after Day #1 of the Girls State Wrestling tournament in Coralville. Mara Davis, Ruby Roof, Regan Jensen, and Regan Haynes all went 2-0 Thursday and will wrestle in the Semifinals Friday afternoon. Sienna Fehr went 2-1 on the day, and will be a state medalist. Laura Stohr went 1-2 and was eliminated from the tournament. Algona currently is 5th in the team standings with 52 points. The Bulldogs will return to the mat Friday at 1pm inside the Xtream Arena in Coralville. Live coverage will be available on 98.5 FM/1600 AM of all matches.

Congratulations to the AHS Jazz Choir, Scarlet Midnight, for earning a Division I (Superior) rating at the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Choir Festival at Clear Lake on Saturday! The AMS Science Fair is coming up on Monday, February 9th! Student projects will be evaluated by a panel of judges in the afternoon and public viewing will take place from 4:00-5:30 PM with awards following. This year the event will be held in the Middle School Gym. Family and community members are encouraged to attend the public viewing!
PLEASE HELP US CONGRATULATE OUR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES!!! These four traveled to Spirit Lake on Wednesday January 28th and competed in Special Olympics District Basketball Skills.
